Federal (1780-1840)

Federal homes often feature a low-pitched or flat roof with a balustrade, windows arranged symmetrically around a center doorway, and narrow side lights flanking the front door. In Federal architecture we often see circular or elliptical windows. Shutters, decorative swags and garlands along with oval rooms and arches are also common to this style.
